Sorry to dredge up an old post...I little dated....I know...

Well, I resisted reading this thread before seeing the movie, and finally got out to see it this weekend. Well, I gotta say, the magic was definately there. I remember seeing the original Episode IV back in 77 when I was a young lad at least 5 times, and gotta say I hated the last two prequels. This one thought put it all together and brought back memories from my childhood. IT WAS GREAT!!!! I think I'll go and see this one a few more times at the theatre before it leaves. It was already in one of the smaller theatres near the back

Can someone explain to me though why Grievous is coughing? Isn't he a robot? Or is he a cyborg? Was that his brain in the middle of all that technology???

Yeah, Grievous coughing was really dumb.  It was even bumber that it was never explained.  Yes, Grievous is a cyborg. Check out his page on the Star Wars web site.   I think what you saw in the movie was his "guts" under his armour.  His brain is up under his helmut. You would only know why he's coughing if you were to have seen the last episode of the Clone Wars animated series on Cartooon Network.  Mace Windu sent a "force push" toward him as he was fleeing Coruscant with the kidnapped Palpatine, crushing his still living lungs.

It was a good flick, I do agree.  I had some continuancy issues with it. There were plot holes.  But I enjoyed every minute of it!

Most glaring plot issue:
"If Padme was full term, her breasts should have been larger. I paid good money to see them."

I saw this on another site, and I concur.

What?  :o  Which movie did you see? The charity session of SW:E3 I went to certainly didn't have any of this "plot" thing you are referring to.   ;D

I've changed my mind after seeing this movie, Lucas isn't all bad. His visual portrayal certainly kicks the crap out of any other movie without subtitles I've ever seen. But being the best painter in the business doesn't mean you can *write*. I mean, he *landed* the capital ships!  :'(

I finally got round to seeing this today and I was pleasantly surprised. Not bad at all. The special effects were astonishing as you'd expect. But the story also holds together pretty well and the (genuinely moving) ending cleverly ties up all the loose ends. Of course the acting and dialogue were still dodgy but you can't have everything.

One thing they didn't explain unless I missed it is why Obi Wan's body disappears when he is killed by Vader in episode four.

They never explain that phenomenon in the Wizard of Oz: Episode One either.

Yoda tells Obi Wan to see a jedi (forgot his name) to learn how to contact the living after he dies. I guess that disappearing act is part of the trick he learnt to make him come back to help Luke after he dies.

I heard my mom and sister talking about Star Wars the other day and one of them mentioned that Anakin is Luke's father.  So I asked them if they knew who Anakin's father was.  When I told them it was god they got mad at me.

The Jedi he's talking about was Obi Wan's teacher, who died in the first episode.

The EU explination is that as a great Jedi gets older, they draw more and more of their energy from the force instead of from their wheat-bix. Thus, when they are killed there is practically no physical matter left in their form, since they were so close to becoming "one with the force". Tarkin's comment about Obi-Wan being long dead, and Yoda being 900 support this idea, but what the Lucas(tm) reason is I don't know, since I was horrified when Qui-gon didn't disappear.

Side note: Instead using that power to talk to Yoda about the chicks in the after life, you think he could have mentioned to Yoda that Darth Vader was going to kill the other Jedis.
Like they would have believed him. ::)   Remember, they had a holocam in Palpatine's office, yet they don't have someone assigned to watch that 24/7? And then Anakin tells them that Palpatine is the sith lord, and they make no back-up plans for defending the temple if they fail, despite suspecting that Anakin is starting to side with him? I swear, sometimes I couldn't tell if it was Lucas or Braga writing this thing...  ;D

Also, if a side-effect of this ability is that your physical body disappears on death then why didn't Yoda's body disappear when he dies in The Empire Strikes Back?

You say that, but the person I went to see Episode III with had never seen a Star Wars film before, quite a feat when you think how often the films are shown on TV. He actually asked me at the end whether Luke Skywalker was played by Harrison Ford in the next film. :o
