Star Wars world record attempt in Portland, OR
« on: May 16, 2005, 11:47:14 am »
Hey if there are any portlanders out there on the board, there is a man trying to break the world record for star wars of 300 million. He's doing this to try and raise money for portland area schools. If anyone is in the ares make sure you stop by Ground Kontrol (couch and 5th) and check it out! Here is the original post that offers more details:

If you're not referring to Portland, Maine you should disambiguate.  :)

Dang Flinkly only a half and hour away and you've never been to Ground Kontrol?! I live 45 min away (Camas, WA) and go there quite often. You might want to check out Wunderland too, no classic games but still a fun place to blow $20 or so!

You should check out the SE portland wunderland (on Belmont and 35th) its in the old Avalon theater. Its still mostly DDR type games, driving games and redemption games. But the building is pretty cool.

BTW check out http://www.groundkontrol.com for updates on the Star Wars world record attempt! He's halfway there!

I'm wondering how the game is at 161 million. Does it start over at some point? does it still increase in difficulty? hmm. Does he have a ton of extra lives by this point?

I seriously am gonna have to go by there today.

Well its over! This world record attempt ended at 283,779,000 points. Check out www.groundkontrol.com for full details. Its too bad he was so close to beating the record but I guess after 54 hours and 10 minutes you get a little exausted.

I'm gonna snag the City Connection record as soon as I can get a video camera. Although it won't take me 3 days to do it, it should take about 10 minutes (there is NO established City Connection record, and I own pretty much every working board known to exist!!!)

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I guess you take an enema or something before starting to avoid having to go number 2, then have only liquids during playtime.

For number 1, you can either have a handy tube and funnel arrangement or a catheter.

The hardest part for me would be the sleep deprivation.

Wow, the hardest part for me would be a toss up between the catheter and the enema.

So in order to do this, a prerequisite is sticking something up your ass and possibly something up your urethra?

I don't think I want that record that badly.

Keep in mind, when guys are this good at these games, they usually rack up so many extra free lives that they can go off and take a break for a couple minutes. (Though in star wars I imagine this isn't possible since there's a maximum number of shields?)

heh, diapers.

i don't think i'd go for a high score if i had to do any of these things.  for some reason, having someone else hold a bottle for me to pee in just doesn't seem right, and pooping in a diaper that i have to wear for three days doesn't seem enjoyable either.

damn, and you'd want to drink coffee for the sleep deprvation, but that would just come right back out.

You'd have to rig up something drainable for urine, like having a funnel in your pants with a tube down your leg into a bottle by your ankle, that could be replaced with a fresh bottle every couple of hours.

Of course, then you'd want that every time you started to play a game.

Or, what if you just took the cab into your bathroom?  You could just twist to the side to take a leak into the toilet.  If you have to poop, just lean back a bit and sit for a minute.
