These marquees are dying and need to be preserved, they are all turning orange from age and light, and no reproduction exists to my knoledge.

I have some 600 DPI scans of the marquee, but they are EXTREMELY discolored, the colors cant be used as a refrence, but the overall image is there.

Everything else but the marquee has been vectorized before, and is in the vector library (side art, control panel, instruction sheet), but I would assume since almost all remaining marquees are so ugly, no one makes nice scans of them.

If anyone is really interested, let me know and I will get you the images (probably mail you a CDR as they are about 80MB each and I only have 128kbps upload.

I have attached a compressed JPEG (the real scans are 600dpi uncompressed bitmaps) to show the extent of the damage to the colors, and the detail that is still left.

For refrence (NOT my images):

Awesome! I have changed my mind and am uploading them to my server. THey should be done by noon today (CTS) so dont go DLing them yet, because they will be incomplete.

Thanks to you, and anyone that can help. I know I need a good restoration panel, but many others will love it as well. It needs to go straight to the Vector Library if it ever gets completed!

Thanks!!!

  • Mmmmm.....arcades!
    • Mario's Arcade Page
I have a SMB marquee which is in fairly good condition. Let me know if you need other scans.

I want to vectorize the "Super Mario Bros." logo and character pics from the SMB pinball machine:

I will be making high-res scans of these soon. If anyone can vectorize, PLEASE let me know. Thanks.

PLEASE take some scans of it for me, if for nothing else than color correctness,

Thanks!

  • I'm a winner.
I'm surprised that nobody has this one!
It doesn't matter if you win or lose....it's how you play the videogame.

I have taken that image and enlarged it and taken away some the the jpeg artifacts and whatnot, so it would be more easily used for color refrence.

Hope it helps!

Are you guys sure this will work as a vector?  There is a ton of blending.  Look at the sky and the trail behind mario.  Those bricks look like a nightmare too.  I'm not an expert on vectors by any means, but if this is your first go, I'd run it by mahuti before getting too into it.

With enough time and money almost anything is possible...

It can be turned into vector, but it will be a decent amount of work. Accurately just depends on the person doing it. If I didn't do this sort of stuff for a living I would be more inclined to take on these types of in-depth projects. I'm a professional designer and not an illustrator, so it would take me a lot longer than someone else since I don't create much "art". It would be extremely accurate though. As it is, I can barely have time for my own personal stuff. :(

I looked at the prices of the Mario pinball machine. Reasonable, but still out of my budget for now. I have to get my arcade done first. After seeing that machine however, I'm now interested in also using some of the side art. Maybe we could work out something if no one else steps up to the plate...

Even something that isnt perfect is alot better than nothing at all. Alot of those things cant be translated to vector, but still, alot can. :)

I am learning AI right now, and might try a few of the easier things for fun.
