Hantarex 25" Monitor losing brightness.
« on: May 12, 2005, 09:06:34 am »
Only been running my cab for a couple of months and in the last couple of days the monitor display has seemed much darker (like i've added a second sheet of smoked glass to the front).

I've adjusted all of the brightness and colour settings on the monitor and my GPU to no effect. I read that this can be caused by a voltage issue but it was working ok up to now. Its still playable just not very vibrant and flashy.

Its an old Hantarex 25" monitor circa 1989 and running via a J-Pac.

Do I need a new one or is there a fix that I'm missing?. Any ideas?

have you tried adjusting the coarse screen control on the flyback?
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

Yup.

I've tried adjusting all of the controls on the back, seems to be one for brightness, colour, focus, and one each for Red Green Blue plus another that expands and contracts the edges of the picture.

Inside the cab are the controls for the vertical and horizontal orientation.

Nothing has made any difference. Brightness is as high as it can go and tweaking the colour any further improves the brightness slightly but washes out the detail and causes bleeding.

If it has NOT had a capkit installed then get one. If it has had a capkit installed recently then your picture tube needs to be rejuvenated.
