DEATH RACE
« on: May 11, 2005, 11:51:29 pm »
Not sure whether to put this under New Projects or Software. I had started work on a Death Race multicab last year. This was meant to play an emulation of the Exidy version, the Carmageddon series, the console version(s), and the Corman movie. I ultimately acquired a nearly working cabinet (all the boards at least) so abandoned the idea of building up a multicab.
Long story short, I started an emulation of the original game essentially from memory and blurry screenshots. This was before I found out about the MAME/Ms Pacman version.

It never got quite finished but, for those interested, here it is:

The controls work for both cars. The sprites are on the whole mine though the car is a borrowed sprite set (Atari2600?). Never finished the sound. Now that I have a semi working version of the original I can see the inaccuracies. It is still pretty fun I think and is 2 player simultaneous. Should map to a MAME cab easily.

Enjoy-

Doc

I remember this game (thanks for the game BTW).  I was wondering if you could do a version of Boothill (very similar graphic and playwise.....heck, it may even be made by the same company).

Ah, one of the world's very first controversial games. That alone makes it a classic, if nothing else. ;D
