Lazarus Wrapper Report!
« on: December 01, 2002, 04:18:08 pm »
I just want to keep some of you informed as to my success/non-success with Lazarus and certain emulators with Howard's wrappers.  This post will be updated by me as I get the time to test more.

My test system is a PIII-900 running Windows XP Pro.  It's a fresh format, nice and stable.

If you had different successes, let me know.

NON-WORKING

Meka (latest) - No success with Cmdline 2.0.  Cmdline 1.0 wrapper works to launch, -keyx functionality does NOT work and is necessary as Meka does NOT provide remappable exit key internally.

MagicEngine .9 - No success with Cmdline 2.0.  Cmdline 1.0 wrapper works to launch, -keyx functionalty does NOT work (cmd-launch does not exit properly).  Even with a regular exit from the emu through its internal exit key (remappable), cmd-launch does not exit and thus hands system until cmd-launch task is manually killed.  CMDLaunch was used here to send SHORT filename to MagicEngine.  Howard note: If you made a standalone wrapper JUST for short filename sending, this MAY solve the problem.

WORKING

WGens (latest) - Working with Cmdline 2.0 wrapper and -keyx function.

VirtuaNES (latest) - No need for wrapper. Straight launch.  Works great.

---

In short, cmd-launch 2.0's functionality as far as sending short filenames to certain emus is VERY buggy.  1.0 handles the short filenames much better but seems to have trouble with exit key functionality.

I will keep this post updated as I add more systems and test.

Command Line Wrapper 3.0 fixed the Magic Engine exit problem.

MEKA is still doing the same thing, I don't think Howard can do much about that one though.  Hopefully the authors of MEKA will allow a remappable exit key in a future version so we can gracefully exit our Coleco and Sega Master System games.

Nice work, Howard!

I'll keep folks posted here if I find any more emus that don't work with the wrappers.  If anyone has had success with Meka, let me know.
