Lazarus: Can The 4000 Limit Go Higher?
« on: November 29, 2002, 10:51:16 pm »
Howard,

Adding NES system to Lazarus isn't possible with a full set, as it only takes 4000 per vdir and that particular directory holds like 6,000 roms or so.  Could this 4,000 limit possibly be bumped way up for a future version?

I get a "subscript out of range" error when it's scanning the vdir, parsing the datfile worked just fine.

It can but you don't want me to.   Everytime I make the list bigger it makes everything list related require more time and more resources to complete.  I keep it just above the mame list size and not much more for a reason.

Luckily as time goes on pc's get more powerful and have more resources.  I will most likely stick to my slow but steady increase method for now.

Besides... why in the world would you want a list 6000+ entries long?  It would be murder to scroll through even if you went on the next letter basis.

If it's a resource thing, that I can understand.

I  guess I'm just a completist at heart.  I'm one of those people who wants to put EVERY rom in the frontend, just not my faves.

What I'll do is just split them up half and half I guess. ;)
