Without lawyers, we'd be in a far worse state than we currently are.  You'd have only your own word, time & skills to protect yourself against large corporations, corrupt cops and/or overreaching government.

It's easy to say that all lawyers suck if you've never been illegally screwed and had to legally defend yourself.  But even if you haven't, you can thank lawyers that your drinking water is as clean as it is and that your cars are as safe as they are.

Dropped by the ole THRIFT STORE today

and picked up a PC trackball and a Gravis Blackhawk joystick

for a $1.00 each in the bargain bin.

It pays to stop by every now and then.   :)

no good deals in our local Starvation Army store. I guess I could go humor myself and dance around the store with some use underwear on my head. Impress the ladies, show em how good it feels when your in "freeplay" mode.

It's the same deal here in the UK, I went to donate some old electrical items to a charity shop and they refused as the risk was too high to sell them in the event they electrocuted someone or burnt the house down.

I check mine every once in awhile. Only working system I've gotten from there was a 486-100 I picked up for $10. Worth it to me as it has a CD-ROM drive, my other 486 doesn't. Only other good computer part I've found there was a pristine "clicky" keyboard for $2.

my only video game related thrift store find:

about 6 months ago, I got a Pac Man BOARD GAME for 25 cents.  Box was split at the corners, but it had all the marbles......but it was missing the dice.  It is kind of funny......it had 3 different price tags from other stores on it.

Eh, if your town has a recycling center, go there.  Most small towns and many large ones will just hand you old computers for the sake of them not having to pay to dispose of them.  I know in my (tiny) town, peope cannot throw computers away.  We have to bring them to the town highway dropoff.  There's a trailer there with 20-40 old computers on any given weekend.  The guy running the place will let you walk in and take them if you don't try to piece them out right there (you have to take the whole thing).

It's like an endless supply of low end machines for free.  Monitors are dead as often as not, though, and not worth the $7.50 to bring them back if they are.

Checked in the local thrift store today, and this was todays haul:

A PSX and a mint condition saturn controller for $2.13.  The PSX has no cords, and when plugged in, boots up but does not recognize the games as disks?  Any one know how to fix that?

Also were some plain black cartriges from Mattel, with some weird names on them.  They must be from some older system I dont have..........but they arent worth anything, are they?
