No new features, (DL2), but I'm glad they're still working on it.

As far as I can tell the changelog basically says that if you're not having problems this release is of no value. In other words, if everything is working ok for you, I wouldn't bother upgrading. (Despite the author's opinion, stated in the forums, "I suggest all v0.99.6 users upgrade to this new v0.99.6b version because it should make life easier for many people and shouldn't hurt even if it doesn't necessarily help ").

It is refreshing to see that someone is still working on Daphne, I thought for sure that it was a dead project.

Looking at the changelog it looks pretty significant for the new user.  Will make it easier.

"- all strcpy and strcat's in ldp-vldp.cpp replaced with safer versions that cannot buffer overflow"
makes daphne more stable.

"- command-line argument size has been increased to 320 characters from 80.
This allows people to run daphne from within many nested directories, or from within directories with long names"
Self explainitory on why this is good.

"- a "-nojoystick" option has been added to prevent daphne from using a joystick if desired"
A plus for some users.

"- parallel port support for win2k/winxp is now built-in (an external program such as directio or allowio is no longer needed)"
Probably the coolest addition

By far. This may be exactly what I'm looking for regarding the LED controller project.

I was bummed that they didn't include the code I submitted in this release, but this parallel port stuff makes up for it, in spades.

WAHOO!!!  I think it was my request that brought this one about.  I couldn't get Daphne working properly because of the Virtual Joystick that I had installed.

Yay.

I can't wait to try this.
