Vertical hold problem on Hantarex MTC 9000
« on: May 04, 2005, 11:42:12 am »
Hi there guys, I have a problem with my Hantarex mtc 9000 monitor ( I believe it is a 9000, it may be a 9110 but I hear there isnt much difference )
I bought the machine a few weeks ago and have been repairing it since (machine in question is a Sega MegaTech cabinet), but I still havent been able to stop the picture from rolling. It does this on every game ive tried in it, including the original board. I've tried swapping out the remote control boards but still no luck and the sync's are correctly connected, as I've tried using my own wired video harnesses and the cabinet's original unmodified wiring (with the megatech board)..
any ideas? The monitor is very hard to access and im somewhat of an electronics newbie so a capkit is pretty much out of the question :(

The main difference from what I understand, (I had a 9110), is the fan over the flyback?

Anyway, is the video ground hooked up correctly?  How about sync?  A capkit is always the correct place to start if the wiring is all correct.  Randy Fromm has a t-shooting chart on the MTC9000 monitor here:

Well, my machine uses a unique wiring harness (megatech) but the sync wire is the 4th pin along, ground is 6th, for some reason (?) the wires "swap over" inbetween with a connector, so the white wire in pin 6 becomes ground, and the black wire in pin 4 becomes white (the sync) - this is confirmed on the pinouts i have of the motherboard, and i have tried it the other way round..  So Pin 1 - Blue, Pin 2 - Green, Pin 3 - Red, Pin 4 - Comp. Sync, Pin 5 - Empty, Pin 6 - Ground. Is this correct?. I've tried both + and - sync polarity on the monitor itself, it is indeed negative sync.. any other ideas?

Hantarex are well known for needing lots of capacitors.

Also, could you please confirm this model.. I had always thought it was an MTC 9000, as it has a remote control board, and looks the same. However, the connectors are laid out different to how I see in the manual. My monitor is *extremely* hard to get to, so I've took the best picture I can and will put it on here;
Main machine (warning: blurry :( )
Main connectors + Hantarex sticker
The back of the board itself including all the connectors

It looks to me like a mtc 9000 with the power connector moved to the left, but no other I've yet seen has this so confirm please

I understand the 9000 is available both with a fan or without a fan to further confuse things. Suggest contacting the manufacturer Hantarex either at their UK office or their Italy office.

Both of mine have fans (and both of them are dead).

You need to check out Bob Roberts' "What's my monitor page".

The MTC9000 pic is mine from an Operation Thunderbolt machine.
Also check the picture for the Hantarex Polo monitor.  Might be that one too.

You've got me there.  You might want to check with their UK division.  Can't recall the URL though....  Ah, here it is.
