how hard is it to use just DOS as my OS?
« on: April 29, 2005, 03:52:27 pm »
i have pc that will only be running a handful of old classic games (frogger, donkey kong, etc.) and doesnt require any crazy drivers or graphics.  how hard is it to install dos and get everything all running correctly?  im wanting to use game launcher as my FE so i know that works pretty well with DOS.  anyone have any tips or suggestions?  im not that great with DOS but i do know basic commands (change dir., make dir. etc.)

It's pretty easy, but you  have to make sure you have all your drivers.  Sound drivers on newer hardware is difficult, if not impossible to find.

It doesn't work.  This guy (which is hosting a very illegal version of Mame, BTW) took the code that another guy and I were talking about and made it his own.  It doesn't do a darned thing.

I just tried it again, and it's still not working.  The first one I downloaded had a file creation date of 4/14.  This one was created on 4/23.  Still doesn't work.  Does the same thing it did before, exits to a command prompt.

So you're saying this version of .95 is working on your DOS box?
