Namco Museum 4 PC

April 28, 2005 - This is a good time to be a nostalgic gamer, as countless classics collections, multi-title arcade cabinets, and connect-straight-to-TV retro-gaming doo-dads are hitting the market. Today, in celebration of the company's 50th anniversary, Namco announced the Namco Museum 50th Anniversary Arcade Collection. That's a lot of syllables, but all you really need to say is "ret-ro fun."

The collection is scheduled for release this August on GameCube, Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC, and -- in slightly smaller form -- on the Game Boy Advance. Here's what you get:
Pac-Man
Ms. Pac-Man
Galaga
Galaxian
Dig Dug
Pole Position
Pole Position II
Rolling Thunder
Rally X
Bosconian
Dragon Spirit
Sky Kid
Xevious
Mappy
That's a decade-spanning selection of back-to-jelly shoes goodness. Check it out this summer.
I'm kinda hoping that it's just a partial list- the PC version needs more games (for obvious reasons).  ;)

I like how they just keep digging up the same games over and over and over again. Too bad their rereleases are always inferior to an emulator.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

I guess what bugs me is that the PSOne Museum titles combined have over 55 games between them. It would be nice if Namco combined them for the PC release, and threw in games like Rave Racer and the Tekken games for good measure. I gotta write a letter to Namco about this...  8)

Just don't forget to include the CDs in the sale. That goes for Windows too.

just wondering,
how hard would it be to place cd's (namco, midway, and atari ) on the hard drive. ( game drive it think it's called)
and build a FE to load them?

It would be easy enough to put the CDs on the drive,  all you have to do is set up a bunch of virtual drives, each with an ISO image mounted. You could launch the individual disc through a front end easily enough so you'd have a selection like "Atari classics, Namco classics, Williams classics etc but to launch the individual games might be more troublesome. All depends on how they put the collections together. I don't have one to check but it might be worth picking up a couple to look into it.

seems like a nice deal for people who want to sell cabs on ebay.
I would love to see Dave Foley's face with a cab listed with roms
YEP I still hold a grudge  ;D
