any mazda rx7 people out here?
« on: April 27, 2005, 04:59:35 pm »
I was on the Interstate yesterday and some sports car passed me like I was sitting still. ( I was doing 80 and climbing)
I hit my over drive and quickly caught up to him
at 120 the front end stared to shimmy in the steering wheel
at 130 I started to steady out but I no longer was gaining speed.
the speed omitor goes to 140 but there is room on it for 150.

also I have no real take off speed. this thing should chirp the tires on take off.

I own no rice burner but a 85 monte carlo ss
Going to Mcdonalds for a salad is like going to a crack house for vitamins.

sweet
I love 85 Monte Carlo SS , all Monte Carlo's
next door neighbor has a Monte Carlo converted to monster 4x4.
I had one . put a 396 big block in it.
Lost it when the air shocks gave out and let the car drop on to my M50S
riped both sides of the back end. drive shaft fell out of the front and pole volted me bumper to bumper about 3 times total loss of the car  :-[
I was 17 then. (also last time I dumped the clutch)

1 other problem with this car is if you start it up and then turn it off with out driving it or letting it idle for a few minutes you will be stuck.
the motor is flooded. always takes me 3 or 4 days to start it after that.
the 4 plugs ( L1, T1, L2 , T2 ) will be soaking wet.
cranking motor and blowing out the plug holes will not help.
only thing I have found to help is disconnect battery, Take out plugs.
let set over night. If luck she will start next day. most time  it takes days of doing this. I have learned not to touch the gas peddle just before turning it off. My 17 year old daughter MUST REV the motor and shut it off.
then we are stuck again. (she is not allowed to touch the Mazda again)

Yeah RX7's are rapid to say the least! My mate has got a pretty sweet one:-

He's got some awesome rims on since these pics.

Its in the garage at the mo to have a complete engine rebuild and is putting on a huge Greddy turbo, intercooler etc + should take it up to almost 600bhp, 190mph!

Cant wait for a blast in that!

A buddy of mine has one. I don't really know anything about it other than it's pretty seriously modded and wicked fast. I have no idea how an engine with no pistons works at all, much less how it makes the car go like that!

i've got the new rx-8 in silver

it is swift, top speed speed is 146 mph - not that i've been anywhere close to that - already got 6 speeding points (out of 12) and dont want to lose my licence.

in my opinion its a perfect comprimise a car with serious performance, fantastic coupe looks and practicality of having 4 full size seats (its not a 2+2) and a decent sized boot (trunk)

Rchadd- I've seen those animations, and my RX-7 buddy has tried to explain it to me at great length. I'm afraid my piston-oriented brain just refuses to accept that it works. ;)

That's a great looking RX-8 though!

if i were to get a new car - it would probably be the rx-8.  Unfortunately - i would be scared to death that it would break down while i was on the highway, and taken the the local mechanic who would then burn me alive for having a car that works on witchcraft.  "Row-taar-ee Engine?"
