I am cheep. I wait till they are $100.00 then get them.
still need a Xbox and a PS2 before I go to the newer ones
I get kinda sick at the manufacturers. I can not keep up before they toss out the old and bring out the new.
at least Sony stayed backward compatible.]

I thought all of the next gen consoles were currently planned to be backward compatible.  In the current generation Sony was the only one that was able to be backward compatible.  It would be kind of hard for the game cube to be backward compatible with N64 because the N64 used cartriges.  And Xbox didn't have a previous system to be backward compatible with.  I hope the new PS3 will be double backward compatible so that it still works with PSX and PS2 games instead of just PS2 games.

I can't wait for a PS3.  I could never get use to the XBox controller.

I will almost definitely get the next Nintendo system so I voted for that one.  PS3 and Xbox 2 are both wait-and-see things for me.  I doubt I will get both, but will probably get one of them eventually.  So I just voted Gamecube 2 rather than All of the above.

I think in every generation that Nintendo has participated in they have had far and away the best controller.  Xbox controllers suck, but I actually love the MadCatz Microcon controllers for Xbox.  Hopefully Sony will FINALLY swap the analog and D-pad positions for PS3 considering it is the far more commonly used of the two controllers and should be in the more comfortable position.  The placement of the analog stick on the PSP does not signal that they have learned this yet.

It's weird that Nintendo is a given for me, considering that I play my Xbox far more than my Gamecube and in spite of not owning a PS2 I wouldn't hesitate to acknowlege its superior library overall.  I guess I'm just a sucker for Nintendo's in-house game development (and a couple of their 2nd party developers).  And if the current mod-scene didn't exist for the Xbox I really doubt I would even own one, let alone play it more than my Gamecube.

...and so on.

I picked up a PS2 the day they were released in Europe (a few months after the rest of the world) and paid an insane amount of money for it (I think it was 320 Irish Pounds, which was about US$460 at the time). It was the first time I jumped on a band-wagon, and I don't think I'll be doing it again; yeah there was a handfull of excellent games at release, but it took a few months and a system pricedrop before the really good stuff came out.
