free CD's
« on: April 25, 2005, 11:41:30 am »
Thats right  I'm giving away free cd's of my bands show from last monday. two cd's one case and a printed songlist. Its about two hours worth of music anyone who is interested send me a p.m.

I am not charging you anything (free shipping) and will delete your adresses after I mail them out.

the mix isn't great because we only got a one channel dump off the board so its in mono. but its still pretty good.

just to warn everyone I'm going to limit it to 20, and in the U.S. because I figure it will cost me about $3 each to make and ship these out so first come first serve.

any feedback would be apprediated.

P.S. if any mods or admins feel this is not in the right forum or spam like feel free to delete or move this thread.

<edit> the style of music is Pop Grass (acoustic alternitive rock with a folk and bluegrass influence.)  If you would like examples before sending me a pm heres two songs in mp3 format faster  and out of time <edit>

Cool, I didn't want to be taking advantage of the board or anything. I figured it would be ok (otherwise I wouldn't have posted it) but I wanted to share one of my hobbies with those who share my second favorite hobby. and I figured it wasn't really related to anything on the board so the B/S/T forum didn't seem right.

And just to note the feedback thing isn't required, If you want one and don't think you'll have time or just don't want to it doesn't matter. I'll still send you one.

feedback:  You suck.

You just wanted general feedback like that, or did you want something specific, like about the music? ;) ;D

You don't have to delete my address, anytime you want to send me some, pitch 'em in the mail.  Make sure if you're sending these USPS that you send them media mail.  I had the wierdest experience too.  I was alerted to the fact that media mail is one of the few (only?) forms of mail the USPS can open in order to check to see if you're actually using it for media, or if you're trying to get around paying the correct postage.  Since I found that out, I started waiting to seal stuff up until I paid them for postage so I could show 'em what's inside and they stamped it with some goofy stamp the dude said alerted other USPS folks that "this one's been verified, no need to open".

I'm prolly the guy they tell stories about on their lunch breaks and laugh at ::)

Shape D, couldnt you just send the files via email and save some cash, that still would get the word out as well.

I'm not sure how I'm going to mail them out yet I'll probobly end up sending out 5 cds to everyone wich means I'll have to find something to put them in. those mailers won't really work.

Another idea is you could post them on a website, then we could listen to them there. Maybe someone could lend you some bandwidth. I have a bit I could ante up... Too bad you can't send to Canada... Oh well...

ohh I forgot to mention that in the OP. Feel free to make any copies you want. We aren't planning on making any $ off these now anyway. so if you have a friend that would like one feel free to burn them a copy.  If you don't like 'em feel free to give em away.

P.S. nice avitar. took me a second to finger out who that was.

No, not buying the little crappy mailers, that's not what I'm talking about.

I sent shmokes 4-6 CD's (can't remember how many were in the set) and put them in a box, prolly 9x9x6.  You're not gonna send them in a CD mailer, you're gonna send it MEDIA MAIL.  The postal rates are different for that stuff.  Sending him that many CD's with included bubble wrap and cases cost me $1.18

THAT'S what I'm talking about.  You can use whatever size box you wish, I'm just saying to make sure to tell the postal employee that you wish to pay the Media Mail rate (otherwise, I'm betting you'll go broke quickly).

Ok everyone I sent them out today.

I ran out of cd's though so someone is the lucky getter of a different cdr its burned on. otherwise I would have sent them out yesterday. And for some reason we couldn't get our second show to dump so I only sent out 3 cd's each.

Jabba - shipping to canada is about 30 cents more so feel free to pm me you adress and I will send one out to you.

or any other canadians who would have wanted some, and didn't send me a pm due to previous restrictions.

Drew - due to a current shortage of cd's I was only able to send you one copy of each, If you want more I can send them to you after I get another spindle of cd's. or feel free to copy them, its up to you.

thanks everyone.

No problem at all.  I've got 3 spindles sitting here waiting to be chosen...when I brought it up, they all jumped to volunteer, so I'll make however many I'll need.  Thanks for the promotional material and paying for it.  It's MUCH appreciated!

Actually Shape, no need for you to fulfill this request, I've got it taken care of.

Delta, I'm trying to promote Shape's band, so I went to Best Buy and got them to stock these free-to-you promotional CD's.  Since I read your request before I made the trip, I had them put the CD's that you requested under the counter.

They're holding them for you.  When you walk in, go to Customer Service and ask for Guadalupe.  She's holding them for you.  Just tell her you're there to pick up a promotional set of CD's from "Pedro".  She'll know what you're talking about.

If they don't give them to you, make sure to pitch a fit....if they call the cops and the cops threaten to cart you off to jail, make a bigger stink.  It's part of the promotion for Shape.  Make as big a stink as you can.  I'm sure Shape appreciates your assistance in the free promotion of his band.  Keep up the good work, every little bit will help!

OK, I officially HATE the glue on that friggen envelope!  After getting an inch of it open, I gave up and cut it open, but that dang flap was sticking to EVERYTHING it came into contact with.
