25" tv that comes on with power
« on: November 24, 2002, 10:20:25 pm »
Has anyone found a 25" tv that will turn on and off from a power strip?

Well going back to s vid would also be a requirement. A while ago someone asked about a tv that could be turned on and off from a power strip so that I wouldn't need the remote. I was wondering if anyone has found one.

I know the consensus of that thread was to just use the remote, which I could do. I figured as long as I'm looking to buy a tv I might as well look for the holy grail of tv's.

Actually, don't ALL TV's come on when they have power ????  :D ;D ;) :)

Seriously, I know what you mean... Most newer TV's will not return to full-on state when power is applied to the cord, they only go into their low-wattage-wait-for-remote-press mode.

Try them out at the store first... That's the only way.

Also, be sure to check if they will return to the INPUT (not just channel) they were last on when re-powered up. Also unplug it for more than a few seconds... Some may loose their state if off longer (once a capacitor discharges).

Its probably going to come down to what fits and what I can get cheap.  I'm not sure I want to go tv. If I do I lose my lightgun and a lot of PC games.

Can't speak for a 25", but I have a 32" Toshiba (I'm at work so I can't give the the model #) that turns on the way you want it.  I have it connected into my Reciever so that hitting the standby power button on the reciever powers it on and the TV on.  I've also tested it in a power strip and know it works that way as well.  It goes right to whatever source it was left on, which 99% of the time is the Dishnet that comes into the S-video.

Might help you narrow down your search.

my TV is a JVC 28" AV28 BT5.

if i pull the powercord out and plug it in again, the tv will automaticly power up, it even remembers the channel (AV2 S-Video).
it would be perfect for a Mame cabinet.

but the problem is the tv flickers alot,
i could imagine their 21" or 25" models would'nt be as bad, not sure.

do bigger tv's generely have more flicker?
