The more I hear about the next Xbox, the more I think I'll get left out of it's total experience, and the more I wonder if it's not for me.

I live in an area that cannot get broadband access.

So do I, but I have no interest in online gaming in any case.

Me neither but it sounds like they're putting more content, more customization, more of the total xbox experience online, to the point that off-line games will suffer.

I wonder how fast a group will release modchip the Xbox360?  As it's still basically a computer...

About 30 seconds after it hits the shelves.

Well you know, they have to allow a little time for package design. ;)

No here's how it'll happen

- Group cracks Xbox360 Bios
- Uploads group tag picture to the xbox startup
- Releases mpeg of the modded Xbox360 and slams some group at the end
- The world waits for mod to be release...
- The whole Xbox cycle repeats itself

Dumb question, but why is MS/Xbox releasing games on a DVD format again?

you would think if microsoft held any regard for this consoles future they would have gone with Hdvd or BluRay format. with the impending format shift only around the corner ,and its clearly higher capacity ,this just goes to show microsoft is only putting out a padded product for the sake of releasing a product. there will be no real innovation this time around. The real deal evidently isnt coming for another 3 years or so.. not a good way to follow up a failed console.

ot a good way to follow up a failed console.

I don't think the xbox has failed at all. Its done excessively well for itself.

what happened to the dayz gone by.. when Nintendo came out in 1985 and lasted for nearly 10 years before snes and the rest started belting out crazy things like sega 32x sega cd (not sega bashing) to get some more $$ flow based on hype of a better cooler product...... I want it like the old dayz..  granted.. Xb came out in..00-01ish...

well ok.. everything needs to be backwards compatable.. yeah.. thats my story and I'm stickin to it..

when i walk into a store or bluckbuster and see the pathetic selection of games available for Xbox compared to its competitors gianourmous rack of games, id say its failed.. Halo 1-2 dont make for a successfull console in my eyes.

Being #2 in an $18 billion market is failure now? I'll take that kind of failure.

Dreamcast sales grew because it could play burnt games. So did the Xbox console once groups released modchips and apps for the Xbox.

I've had a Xbox that I bought from a friend in 2001 and I've never purchased a game for it.  But I have around 40 games for it.   ;D

Huh?

Did an Xbox kill your mother?

The Xbox was by no stretch of the imagination a failure. It has a pretty large library of excellent titles, which I personally don't even include Halo 2 in. No, it does not have as large a library in general as PS2, but its library is far greater than that of the Gamecube.

A dominating first place in the console wars is certainly the spot to aim for, but a successful second is hardly a failure.

ok, maye the term failure is strong, but i still feel the lack of titles is a console killer for me.
mind you i own them all, so i dont hate any of them ,i merely wish the xbox could have been more is all and this is just an extension of my dissapointment.
When i look at the title selection both in quantity and quality it just pales in comparison.

we wont ven get into my gamecube...i think my gamecube has a total 32 minutes of power on time..  ;D

That makes more sense.

Even the gamecube, though, you gotta have a soft spot for how GOOD those 32 minutes have been...RE4, Viewtiful Joe, Windwaker, Metroid...and the upcoming Zelda game...the Gamecube has had some really special games.

Heck, even animal crossing (which I plan to enjoy all over again when my kids learn to read).
