hood mounted rocket launcher?
« on: April 22, 2005, 01:42:52 pm »
Has anyone ever wished they had a rocket launcher or maybe machine guns on their car so they can take out the car that cuts them off on the highway?  Maybe have buttons on the steering wheel, kinda like Spy Hunter for smoke screen, oil slick, rockets, and machine gun!

I was in the passing lane doing 75ish and this lady cut me off.  No turn signal, no nothin'.  Just 'whooosh' switch lanes right in front of me.  I was pissed.  Then a few seconds later the guy to the right of me started to change into my lane before realizing I was there.  Normally I just brush it off, but today I wanted to KILL!  So I tailed her with my highbeams for ~3 miles (I know, but it just felt right!).

I just wish I could shoot these idiots!  (press button marked 'rockets' NOW!).  Maybe even a high powered nerf missle launcher where my fog lights are.  That would be cool and relatively harmless.

I think after people get their licenses they forget all the rules of the road and drive as if they own the road.  Makes me mad!

What do you do when this happens?  Any good ideas that won't send me to jail?   >:(

I would just like to point out that unlike in a video game the car wouldn't neccisarily move off to the side of the road or dissaper after you blew it up. most likey you'd have to slam on your brakes to avoid hitting it.

IMHO I think that in order to renew your drivers licence you have to pass both the written and road tests like you have to at first.

I've always wondered about the legality of having a super soaker in my car - kind of like velcro'd to the center console, ready to go. Then just roll down the window......

And not one of those pistol sized ones either.

I keep it simple.  I have a leg mounted foot launcher, and I use it to launch my boot into the ass of such drivers.

I call it my knee.

I've always wondered about the legality of having a super soaker in my car

I was thinking of a super soaker filled with mud water under the wheel well of my car that would fire into the tire and splash out, looking like I hit a puddle and splashing pedestrians that were blocking me while I was making a right hand turn.

The legality of both our ideas are on the il side.

Think anyone would mind if I shot 'em with one of these?  I could get one of those 'button of doom's' to launch it, and maybe make it wire guided using an ultimarc joystick?  :)

all youd have to do is mount pvc pipes in your grill and stick those rocket engines in them. The ones at toys r us have the launcher with them. Just run the wire up to your console.  youd just have to reload the fuses once they were spent. then again you could set up a relay...nvm i think im giving bad ideas....lol

I say just pull up next to the subject and pull out your 357 and scare the piss out of him with some blank cartridges, sooo you might have to spend a few years in prison but the memory of that day will last a life time.

In north dallas someone did something similar.  They were cut off or got cut off by this person.  They then pulled beside each other yelled at each other a bit.  He followed the guy like 5 or 6 miles down the road a shot at him while driving down 75.  It was one of those "If the bullet went an inch in the otherdirection they guy would have died

this happens alot where i live , people can't drive for crap. its like my jeep grand cherokee was set to invisible! i just wish peoples license plates were connected to their cell phones so that you could just punch in the guys plate number and have it ring on their phone. then you berate them on how much they suck and that the world would be better if they drove headlong into a wall.

So, what, you call the guy to yell at him when the problem was that he's on his cell phone instead of driving well?

Talk about exacerbating the problem with the 'solution'.

Here, here.

All car drivers should have to go to motorcycle school as a requirement for getting their license. It should be part of their learners education.
That's not a bad idea. That way all car drivers will know how to cut off two cars at a time by driving on the lane marker instead of in the lane itself. Traffic will be twice as efficient then. ;D

It would be easier and safer to outlaw motorcycles.  I've been cut off by suicidal Kawasaki riders more than anything else.  A couple years ago I saw a kid on what could only be described as straddling a booster rocket shooting down between stopped lanes of traffic at about 80.  Someone opened their door to fix their seat belt... he hit the door, ripped it off, killed himself and critically injured the person who had opened their door in nonmoving traffic.

How unnecessary was that?

Personal experience tells me even the best of riders will eventually be killed or maimed by either a mistake of their own or of someone else's.  I come from a long line of bikers, every one of them 20+ year riders and every one of them eventually either killed or permanently injured on their bikes.  My uncle was a career Navy man, had been riding for 30 years, and was killed in an instant by a woman in a van on her phone.  My father was sideswiped by a guy playing with his radio, leg amputated up to the hip.  I could go on and on with similar stories for people I am related to or close with... at least half of the injuries/deaths, if not most, are caused by things the rider cannot control.

They're simply not safe.  Motorcycle riding is a behavioural form of natural selection.

I never said I wanted them banned... I said it would be easier.  I just think people should stay off them.  Laws are not the answer to everything.

Many people live to shoot up for the same reasons.  That's not a valid justification given the inherent risk involved, not to me anyway.

If someone cuts me off - and i know that it wasn't intentional - i just shrug it off.

If someone knows that I am there and does it to me - then I get pissed.  VERY pissed.

Unfortuanately - living in LA, 99% of the drivers fall into the second category.  They see you - they just don't give a damn and will merge into your lane whether you are there are not.  Somehow it's MY fault for driving in the lane that they are merging into.

So here is my plan:

Since traffic cops in LA are nonexistent (seriously - there isn't a single one); All I want is a laser license plate reader so that I can scan their plate.  If you only scan the people that do something illegal, dangerous, or rude - then it uploads to the DMV, and gets a tally for every driver each month.  If you have a high number of people scanning your plates - then your registration fees and insurance fees will raise.  If you are a good and law abiding driver with few plate scans - then your rates go down.  Reward the good drivers - punish the bad.  Now theoretically - this is what the police are supposed to do with ticketing.  Unfortunately - they dont do squat and the offending drivers outnumber the defending drivers by a huge ratio.
I hate driving in LA...
