I bought the game when it first came out and then beat it five or six times and sold it. I just had an itch to play it again so i had to go buy it again and i cant put it down, i just recenty came into a big screen tv (some of you seen my post about the sony 45") and its looks incredible on that beast.

Im sure there was a thread about RE4 a while ago, but i just had see whos playing it and how they like it, i havent seen a better game to date.

With all this modchip and RE4 talk, I've been wondering if I should finally spring for a new gamecube (mine has been lost for around 2 years -- or possibly stolen). Does RE4 jusitify buying the entire console for?

RE4 is better than Halo 2. It's the best game I've played in years.

(This from someone who does not have the ability to get on Xbox Live)

I was going to ask the same. Gamecubes are just about cheap enough to be an impulse purchase these days.

Heck if RE4 doesn't justify the purchase, the new Zelda game will.

zelda = over rated like most nintendo franchises

gamecube = i just bought one from work

re4 = im getting it fri or sat along with a few other games

"RE4 is better than Halo 2." = two different consoles, two different genres, two different demographics, and halo is nothing pc gamers haven't seen 5 years ago

I would definitely buy the Gamecube for RE4 alone. That is one of the most brilliant games ever made. Zelda is going to be unbelievable. And if you wanted to save money you could get the Cube and RE4 used for about $100 instead of $150 for the two.

Wow, I thought so but I didn't realize this was the consensus.

Well, nonetheless, RE4 is well worth the purchase of a GC at today's prices, no doubt.

As for Nintendo's franchises being over-rated...I just don't think that holds water.

i own some nintendo franchise games, so i guess maybe it doesn't

i'm glad others dont like halo... i despise halo because it's a horrible game and i despise the xbox because of the demographic that they target with it is the stupid extreme sports drunken college rich boy demographic... at least around here...

The gamecube is worth getting just for RE4 , i bought a CG just for RE0 when that came out, Nintendo getting the rights to RE series was a good move at the time.

Anybody who hasent played RE4 yet you will love it, people say the home pc can produce more powerfull games in terms of graphics, but RE4 is really great looking.

I went through similer situation when mgs2 came out..that was way cool back in the day !!

Well, face it, its a run of the mill FPS game thats dumbed down for consoles.. anyone whos played a proper FPS game on pc, knows that its nothing more than a mediocre fps game..

timesplitters 3 is the best modern fps I've played on console... it's pretty fun stuff...give it a rent...

RE remake is good the graphics are just as good as RE0, all the cubes REs are good except the ports the graphics just dont compare.

Anybody beat RE4 and try to get 5 stars on the mercenaries mini game with each character, those chainsaw guys are ruthless!!

What does it unlock when you get 5 stars with all four characters? I think I've got 3-out-of-4 done but then I finished my cabinet and I haven't turned on a (real) console since then!

5 stars unlocks the hand cannon in the main game.

I think you have to play through the game some more to upgrade the hand cannon a few times, i just got the chicago typwriter magnum machinegun, its going to be a breeze to get through the game now.

Caffinefiend if RE4 dosent do it for you then your hopeless and shouldnt go near any games anymore.

It's the special purchase option, after you've upgraded the gun to the max with the merchant. Once you've purchased all the handcannon upgrades, check the upgrade options for it again. A special purchase upgrade will be available which will allow you to get the unlimited ammo.

Awesome, I unlocked the Thompson sub-machine gun (aka "Chicago typewriter") last night. Too bad I now have to save up to buy it!

I was able to just buy it by selling all of my upgraded weapons and some cash i had on hand.
