TV to RGB Conversion site?
« on: April 17, 2005, 10:34:06 am »
There is a site that goes over how to convert a TV to an arcade monitor.  Does anyone here have the link?

I need to have a true RGB monitor as I'm not using a computer.

I'm using a real board and I can't get anyone to mail me a RGB monitor, so I have to convert a TV.

Thanks!

Your only real option here is to replace the chassis...
Check out 8liners.com... They sell the only chassis I know of to reliably convert a TV.

There was talk a while back about converting a TV without changing the chassis (I was the one doing the research), but it turned out to be a dead end road.

THANK YOU!  That's the site.  I was racking my brain trying to search for it.  Thank you again.

If you are in Europe you just need a TV with a SCART input a a sync combiner - see http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/vga2rgbs.html

In the US some (most modern) TV sets have Y,Pb/Cb,Pr/Cr inputs. This is like RGB and you can convert from one to the other but given the expense you may as well go out and buy a monitor.

In theory all color TV's can be converted into an RGB monitor but it probably just not worth the effort or risk of working with a 'live' chassis.
