MAMEWAH question for SCREAMING and others
« on: April 16, 2005, 09:30:04 pm »
I want to use MAMEWAH, but I would like to have an optional list (favorites) that only has about 200 games to choose from.  I don't want to delete the other roms off my machine.  What I want is a favorites category/folder similar to what you can create in Mame32 or Ultrastyle.  I also want to be able to add or delete games from the favorites list without a lot of hassle.

Does your configuration utility make this possible?  If so, could you please tell me how (or point me to the instructions).  If not, do you know how I can do it?  I have seen several posts about favorites lists in MAMEWAH, but everything I have seen talks about the list being the games you play the most (where game 1 is the game most often played, game 2 the next most popular, etc.) and not really customizable.

BTW, thanks for giving of your time to make all our lives a little easier.

If you select Add new game list with the emulator (i.e. mame) you wanna make the list for selected, itll make a new blank list, you can then edit that list to add only the games you want.

Yep, sc1103 has it right.  Try that and let me us know if you have any problems.

several posts about favorites lists in MAMEWAH, but everything I have seen talks about the list being the games you play the most (where game 1 is the game most often played, game 2 the next most popular, etc.) and not really customizable.

MAMEWAH calls all editable game lists "favorite lists".  There are 3 types of favorite lists:

1) "Normal" = Customizable by you.  You can add, delete, and filter to your heart's content on this type of list.
2) "Most Played" = MAMEWAH keeps track of the number of times you play every game and updates this list using that information to sort (most played game is always on top).
3) "Longest Played" = MAMEWAH keeps track of the amount time time you play every game and updates this list using that information to sort (longest played game is always on top).

Since #2 and #3 are 100% automatic and maintained by MAMEWAH, you can specify how many games you want maximum (MAMEWAH can only show the top 20, for example, instead of *every single game you play* sorted by most played/longest played.

I hope this helps clarify a little bit.
