Property Value
« on: April 13, 2005, 10:00:27 am »
I just put an offer on a place and I'm all excited about it. I'll be doing a little price negotiating and still need to have a home inspector go through it, but I'm hopeful that I'll have it wrapped up within the week.
It's the 1st floor of a 2 family condo, 1300sq.ft, includes covered deck, garden, pool and a 1300sq.ft high-ceiling basement (imagine how many half finished projects I could have down there!). It's a 15 minute walk to the city center and public transport and includes 2 off-street parking spaces.

My question is; if you were buying a place like this in your city, what would you pay?
I ask purely out of curiosity, I know what I'll be paying for this and am happy with it.

Is the pool a shared resource?

We'll probably pay $150,000 - $300,000 for a unit like that in Hamilton, Ontario Canada.

The driveway, deck, pool and garden is shared between the two units (we'll be sharing with another newly-wed couple, same age as us). The basement is all mine! Mine I tells ya!

The basement makes living in the first floor worth it.  Maybe

I had a downstairs condo that was cool, until some white trash losers bought the one upstairs, and they didn't know how to walk without pissing me off.

Here's to hoping you'll always like your upstairs neighbors.

Well, that's where we go a-ridin' into town, a whampin' and whompin' every livin' thing that moves within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course.

Something like that would probably go for between 130k and 150k in Winnipeg...Granted a house around that size sells for about $130k and there aren't condo fees or heavy walkers involved.  :P
