Dont know about it runnin on that speed PC or monitor,
but I'm curious to what you are thinking of doing for controls...?

Im thinking of trying for the StarWars Battlefront,
but it also uses WASD keys & mouse - like doom.

I was thinking .... I could use the standard 6 button layout
for the 'keyboard' and then maybe just throw a mouse
on the control panel....

That would look cheesy though......

Have you had any ideas on what you would use for controls?

...so I will ask you... "Deal, or No Deal?"

Man I dont know about the processor speeds, but Doom 3 scared the crap outta me when I first played it.  Friggin scientist turns all ugly and starts batting at you, fireballs flying all over...crazy!

yeah, you may have to turn down some of the eye candy depending on your videocard but it should run fine.
I'm pretty sure all the keys are remappable aren't they?
You still need a mouse or trackball for "mouselook" and it might be a little tricky to change weapon quickly (esecially switching between your weapon and flashlight).

Does anyone know of some "good" FPS games that would work on cab? I think the main problem is to see if you can live with "mouselook" on your cab. I do have a trackball but I'm not sure it's conveniently placed.

I'd imagine that the ideal FPS setup for an arcade cabinet would be a Competition style joystick for the WASD movement keys, and a full analog flightstick set up to emulate the mouse, with the trigger handling shooting. The different arcade buttons could be assigned to different functions like cycling through weapons, jumping, activation, turning the flashlight on and off, etc. Although some people don't like to use joysticks for aiming, but there are far worse alternatives. Maybe a lightgun would be good for aiming, as long as you're comfortable holding it with one hand.

I play PC games on my PC, and arcade games in my cab.

Playing them in reverse just plain sucks.

I have heard that Wolfenstein plays mighty decent in a cabinet.

Controls will be the issue.

I almost created a control panel just for fps... But never got the buttons right.

But now I am creating a full keyboard / mouse control panel for configuration.  And this should be perfect for it.

But all in all... if you don't have a mouse... and a bunch of buttons... you wont want to play it.

I was going to buy a nice controller, and mount it under the coin door, so i could open the coin door and pull out my controller. Will that not work?

Try the bottom RH corner of this link for system requirements

http://www.doom3.com/

It actually says system requirements, but is this the recommended or minimum required?

1.5ghz processor
384mb memory
A good graphics card
x8 CD Rom

Has anyone actualy run it below this?

I have the 3 old dooms with the multiplayer hacks running on my cab.  A buddy and me play it every once in a while in CO-OP mode.  brings back good memories.
