Going to Mcdonalds for a salad is like going to a crack house for vitamins.

Here's a picture of the light table I made for my wife's birthday present (she's a graphic designer).

Hey, my scanner went crap on me, and I actually have a need to use one quite often.  What kinda scanner is that you've got?  I'm guessing it's a bit better than standard since she prolly uses it more than you, but anything's GOTTA be better than the Visioneer pieces of crap my whole family bought (stellar sale at Sam's, but who knew $60 for a $90 piece-of-crap was still a bad deal? ::) )

What day is it? BYO qualifies as part of my job discription. ;)

Today's project was making an adjustable feed roller tensioner for one of the MIG welders at the shop. I have this big aluminum tub I'm building for yet another BYO project, and I needed to set up this welder to use aluminum wire to weld the thing up. In about 4 hours I went from freehand sketch to 3D model to actual part mounted on the machine. :)

It's an Epson Perfection 1240, I think.  They're way beyond that now, to like 4800.  The Epson Perfection line is excellent and inexpensive.

If I were getting a new scanner today and didn't need anything special like the ability to scan 11x17, etc., I would probably get this HP scanner

It's not as good, resolution-wise, as an Epson Perfection of the same price, but it takes up less desk space and has an infinitely higher cool-factor.

It costs about $150.
