Hi peeps

I have been involved in restoring old arcades for a while now. I just recently found this forum. After reading threads on this forum for the last cuple of weeks, I ran right out and bought Saint's book and some Press Board to construct my cab. I have never created a MAME machine before so this will be a learning experience.

Ok so I got the template all drawn and starting cutting the sides. I got the sides cut and will probably wait till tomorrow to cut the rest of the pieces. I have never built anyting out of wood before other than a few skateboard ramps, but that was way back when I was sitll in High School. So that is also going be a first for me. Lucky for me My Grandfather is an old carpenter. I feel its going to turn out great. I am a huge MK fan and I am going to make it an MK themed MAME machine. Here are a few more pics... enjoy!!

After getting all the pieces cut My Gramps and I started actual construction on the base or floor of the cab.

After getting the casters on the base we got the sides bolted on. I thnk we will put the rest together in the next few days. Here is a few more pics:

Thanks guys for all the kind words... My Gramps says that he will be too busy fishing after we get this machine built. He is retired and loves to fish. As for him doing all the work... I do my share, I have to take all the pictures.. J/K ... Well Hope to get some more pics up soon. We have almost got the entire cab built. I cant decide on the CP. I want to build it like an Original MK CP I have an original MK4 and I love the CP. I just want my own original CP Art and more controls like a Trackball for other games. I'am thinking of calling it "Immortal Emulation" , "MAME-atality" or "Arcade Deception" I have a friend that is good with animation and CAG. I dont want to just cut and paste .jps from the game, I wants some really cool vector art renditions of the Scorpion or Sub-Zero. Kinda like this:

At the very least that sample should play when you boot up the cab. I think there's a way to change the windows chime to whatever you want.

"Finish Him" might work too.

Maybe there is access that I can't see, but aren't you going to have a very difficult time if you have to do anything to the marquee / speaker area once the marquee goes in?

I like the 2nd & the 4th vent but not the 1st or the 3rd.

Perhaps you could add a 5th & 6th and then eliminate the 1st and 2nd. That'd be cool

It is a hard plastic mesh the is used for gutters. I wanted to use metal "chicken wire" or something along that line, but could not find the best match to what I wanted. So I went with the cheap 2.00 a roll plastic gutter mesh for now.

The board that holds the speakers (directly below where the marquee) is removeable. Once finished, in order to remove it you would have to unscrew the marquee top bracket and take out the Marquee. then you could unscrew the board and it will slide right out.. Here is a few pics that might help:

I plan on getting the biggest monitor that will fit the whole. I have decided to go with an authentic arcade monitor instead of VGA or TV. The back panel with the heat vents 1 through 4 (that you all cant agree on which one is best
