Missing graphics in 3D cabs
« on: November 19, 2002, 10:02:24 pm »
In Laz4,  my marquees/snaps/flyers/cabinets/vids are all displaying correctly in 2D over background.  However .. the 3D cabinet shows blank white spaces for the marquee and snap (it does show the vids on the model though).

This is my current dir setup:

in C:\mame\dswmedia
folders for \artwork, \cabinets, \flyers, \marquees, \samples, \snap, \titles, \vids

in C:\Lazarus4.0\dswmedia
folder for \models

Should I change something here for the models to read the proper snap(or title?)/marquee?  Or do the models pull this data entirely different?

your png inmprt extra isn't getting registered....

look in system32/macromed/shockwave 8/xtras

and see if there isn't a png...... file in there somewhere.

I have this:  "PNG Import Export.x32"  ...  do you recommend a shockwave 8 reinstall?

no if it's there then it is working...

btw the folder is "dswmedia" and not "DSWMEDIA" right?  It is case sensitive as shockwave is odd that way.

Yep .. all lower case.  I'll mess with it some more .. but throw me some ideas if you can think of any.

you could download download the 3darcade frontend and do this...put some models in the models folder. go to cfg\emulators\femame.cfg and edit the screenshot and marquees path there to those paths you mentionted for lazarus..always ending with a \. then run it...and see if the models turn up ok. if so your shockwave install is ok and the problem lays elsewhere.

I was wondering if anyone else is having difficulties getting the mvs1slot cab to load in Lazarus. The cab works great in Emulaxian.
I think that it has something to do with the marquee images because it loaded for bangbead (I didn't have a marquee for that game). So I moved a couple other marquees and the model came up. But any that I have marquees for it will error.

I tried your suggestion and 3darcade worked fine with same directories so its not Shockwave or graphics-file issue.   hmmmm    ???   I am going to try a program-remove on Lazarus, reboot, reinstall, and reboot and see what happens ...

I'm having the exact same problem - models and vids show, but no screenshots or marquees on the models.  3Darcade works fine - anyone find a solution?

Also - neogeo model doesn't seem to work - gives a shockwave error.

-ok this sounds like a shockwave install issue. Because 3darcade actually does not need to have shockwave installed...all the required files are in the xtras folder of it. Lazarus ising the active x control does need to have shockwave installed properly on the system. i would therefor suggest uniatalling shockwave in the control panel with add/remove progams. reboot your system. install shockwave. then reinstall laz or put the 3 xtras manually in the windows\system32\marcomed 8\xtras folder. you can find thenm in laz's zipfile in the cab file...
-i will take a look at that mvs cab later ;-)

Try all your suggestions .. still same problems.  (I actually caught 3DArcade's use of the Xtras folder after my previous post .. and realized Laz is slightly different in that regard with Shockwave.)

so far i have everything working except snap and marquee on 3d cab .. they come up as solid white.  WinXP-Pro, clean Laz4.0 install, clean Shockwave 8 install.  Tried both auto and manual installs of xtras files.

this may sound weird but to see if it is the png xtra or not you can try this: make some jpg images from a few of your png's ...then rename their extension to .png so laz will see them...and see if they will show up...if they do then the  plugin not finding png xtra is the problem.

Thanks peter. ;D Its not a major issue, just annoying when scrolling through the list and the plugin kept throwing error dialogue boxes at me (until I removed the w3d entry).

The plugin crashes when it tries to load any marquee image on to the mvs model. I tried the renamed jpg and it still errors out. ???

sorry if i did not make myself clear the renamed jpg is for the other problem ie the plugin showing a grey bitmap instead of the png.
the mvscab is a different issue...i suggest deleting the mvsmodel for now...howard made that model slightly different from the others which the plugin does not seem to like...
(to hc this happens probably because i push the png right onto the model in the plugin where in 3darcade i use clones of the models which have custom marquees and screenshots shaders attached to them...)

The grey bitmap can also be another issue.  With shockwave NO other 3d programs can be running while the plugin is running.... In other words if you are on the 3darcade site using the model viewer while laz is up then textures won't be properly applied.

Also on the mvs model.... make sure you have the latest version.  We had this issue on the first version (long before laz 4.0 was even thought of being released.)  of the model when testing the plugin and I updated it.... not sure if that version is on the site, but I will check soon.

Just to wrap this up for future readers .. hc posted a zip file on the lazarus site with 2 additional files for the shockwave xtras folder that fixed the issue.  works great now.
