Make sure the card you are using is configured to send a 15Khz signal.  Sending a 31Khz signal to a 15Khz monitor will damage it.   I would strongly suggest looking into getting an ArcadeVGA card from Ultimarc, unless your monitor can handle 31Khz (640x480), 38Khz (800x600), or 44-48Khz (1024x768).

I hope you have not damaged your monitor already!

Based on what you have said there are three possible problems, incorrect wiring, incorrect video settings or the video output  levels are too low to drive your monitor.

Taking the latter first - turn up the brightness on the monitor and make sure you still don't have a picture. The ArcadeVGA card outputs lower signals than a normal arcade PCB which means the monitor may have a very dim picture (or even no picture at all). If this is the case you will need to by the video amp from Ultimarc.

Incorrect wiring - disconnect all but one ground, and the r,g,b and H/V syncs. assuming you get at least the ground, one of the r/g/b signals and the h/v syncs correct you should see some picture. If not double check your connections and possibly swap the h/v wires. Once you have a picture you can connect the other wires (making sure you don't lose it again).

Assuming you have checked the wiring and it all looks ok, check the configuration settings of the arcadevga card - can't help on this since I don't have one yet. Try plugging in a standard vga monitor, if it works them the settings are not correct for your arcade monitor (but at least the card working)!

I am sure you have done this but check the FAQ at http://www.ultimarc.com

Thank you for the advice.  The monitor I am using is a Hantarex which according to Ultimarc's website, does not need the video amplifier, so we are good there.

I will try out the other two options you mentioned and post back.

It almost sounds like your sync is hooked up wrong.

It almost sounds like your sync is hooked up wrong.

The PCB is labeled as H.S. or Comp.  I tried disconnecting the H and V sync's and the line is still there.  I then touched just the H wire and the line changed from green to blue.  When I touch just the V wire, nothing happens, and when both wires are connnected together, you have the horizontal blue line.  Not sure if this helps or not, but thought I would share it.  Thanks.

I had the same problem with my H. Polo when I first got my MK3 cab. I ended up replacing the board with one from 8liners.

Best $100 spent.

I'd like to figure out what the problem is before I consider a new board.  I'm not sure if it is a wiring problem, some adjustments that need to be made on the PCB or computer or if my arcade monitor just coincidentally had the vertical deflection go out all the sudden.
The line going through the screen is a blueish green color.  When I connect the color wires up (R, G, B) you can see the color change slightly.  Darn if I can get anything but that horizontal line though.

I think your problem is that your entire image is collapsing into that thin horizontal line. I think the problem might be on your chassis. I'm not too sure it's a wiring problem. Do you have a game PCB you can test it on?

Is the remote board hooked up? If so I would check the pots for the vertical adjustments and make sure they didn't get broken during installation of the monitor. If everything looks ok there check R167, R177..... still no luck replace C144, C142, C137 In desperation you can try replacing IC103 & IC104. It sounds like a monitor problem to me, but it wouldn't hurt to hook it up to a working video game just to be sure.
