How to extract from DVD? Video clips, sound and images.
« on: April 10, 2005, 07:51:48 am »
I am looking to create a cabinet based on a movie.
I have the DVD and would like to use video clips, sound bites and some images or screenshots from the movie.

Does anyone know of some software or how this can be done?

Thanks

DVD ripping and editing can be a tricky process and is a bit too complicated to explain on a forum. But here is a good place to start:

http://www.doom9.org/

That site has all of the information and tools to rip and edit. It even has a guide and glossary, so you'll be on your way.

I've got one called Super DVD Ripper that I downloaded for free. It works remarkably well. I was able to rip video clips at full resolution in DivX format, and even higher than the DVD's usual resolution if I felt so inclined but it'll have to stretch to fit, so it'll have to smooth it out a little, which can make it look a little blurry around the edges. You also get the option of ripping in stereo and surround sound, and you can record either the raw animorphic picture, or you can record it with non-animorphic "bars" as part of the image. All around it's very good software, and it's free. Do yourself a google search for it.
