Went to an Arcade Tonight.....WoW!

University of Ottawa has a decent arcade, but mostly fighters.

I used to play a game of xvsf in the cafeteria before certain classes. It was great, the sticks were broken, on an angle. The buttons holes were drilled by a drunk with no template, but it's only 25 cents.

Sad part is, I build my own controls, and enjoyed playing on these busted ass parts. Everytime I think of arcades, I think of broken controls.

Just out of curiosity, any of you guys have a Dave & Busters near you or a Gillians? Dave and Busters is pretty popular where I am (DC area) It's absolutely huge. It has a restaurant, billiards, indoor full swing golf, and one heckuva arcade. All the big new games are in there that I can tell. You buy a card and credits then swipe away 'til you hearts content. I agree it takes away a little not putting in coins but, I've come to terms with the fact that my days in the Ocean City boardwalk arcades are gone, never to return. D&B is a chain, just interesting that it hasn't been mentioned yet.

Last time I was at my old stompin ground, the Jersey shore  (Point Pleasant Boardwalk, and Seaside Heights) the arcades were still in full swing.

A few years ago, the company that my dad worked for was merging his branch with the HQ in Pittsburgh (Westinghouse/ABB). They offered to fly all of the employees and their families out to pittsburgh so that they could decide if they wanted to move there and keep their jobs. We couldn't pass up a free trip, so we went. And while we were there I got to go to a Dave and Buster's with one of the other families. We didn't make a reservation, and it was so busy that we ended up eating somewhere else. But after supper, we went back to D&B's play games at the arcade. It was a magical expirience. It was comparable to the first time I went to Disney World and Universal Studios. That place had so many awesome games and I had a card with $10 worth of credits on it. It was one of the most fun times that I can remember having out of state.

My dad eventually decided to find a different job, and we stayed in Connecticut. He got a much better one that only made us move about and hour and a half away from where we were. There's a D&B's in new york state too, and it'd be about 45 minutes away, but I haven't ever gone there. However I will still keep a warm place in my memory for the time I went to Dave and Buster's... :)

My brother used to work there as a waiter when he was in college. Even with an inside "connection" I don't think I ever had less than an hour wait for a table. I don't even go there for the food anymore. There's  a P.F. Chang's in the same area. I eat there then hit D&B for games and beer. Makes me spend money like I was 13 again. Luckily my mom doesn't get on me too much for spending all of my allowance in two hours anymore.
