Went to an Arcade Tonight.....WoW!
the3eyedblindman:
I went to an arcade tonight for the first time in a while...and not some cheap mall arcade...a real big glowing dedicated arcade...WOW! ITs been a while but it all came back. The first time I walked in itwas all dark and the machines were so loud...the beautiful sound of all the different machines playin... There were so many cool new machines...a Madden football game... Need for speed underground...Outrun 2(an awesome driving cab with a huge monitor), and the games still outdid most systems. A system cannot beat an arcade period. Its so sad that they are all going bankrupt!
tommy:
Those madden machines are nice, i havent seen the NFS yet though, im going to check out an arcade tomarrow hopeing to get a game.
lameboyadvance:
I wish I could still visit the arcades, but the last one near me closed down last year. :(
...Adds to argument of home-based arcade machines. ;)
Bones:
Interesting experience. The last time I went to an arcade I was disgusted in the direction the entertainment had taken.
The machines had no character, nothing but fibreglass and plastic. At a glance there also seemed to be little variation between the type of games either.
I don't know what I expected, but not that.
GameOver:
Yeah, no arcades by me either. Anytime I get sentimental I fire up 'Arcade84' and watch that about 20 times!
Right - new arcades nowadays are not the same, but I guess getting old has a lot to do with that! I want to see Pac-Man, Omega Race and Robotron if/when I go to an arcade. Or maybe fashion has something to do with it too - back in the day we'd wear our suede Puma's or shell toe addidas with the fat colored laces & the girls had neon bracelets with big hair and concert shirts! That added to the entertainment value.
