Can somebody take some good photos of their classic cabs so I can see how the glass is mounted?
Darryl

I have 3/16 smoked temperd glass ordered and should be here on Monday. $20 BTW from a local glass supplier.

Well, on my old Taito cabinet, the glass slides in on plastic tracks from the back of the cabinet. It look like your cab is sealed off around the bezel, so this isn't an option for you. Also, the glass in mine is more like 3/8" glass. Not much help I'm afraid, but you did ask how older cabs had the glass mounted. :)

I have looked for the plastic slides like the Taito cabs had. My Ms. Pacman is in an old Qix cab. I decided to go to Home Depot and use a long piece of alluminum. they have this stuff that is a letter L but 8 ft. long. I will be making a wood frame that will support the bezel, tempered glass, and plexi glass. Then I will put the aluminum braces on the sides to hold it in place. I am going to use 1/4 in. weather stripping to act as a pad between the alluminum brace and the glass.

Edit I just took a closer look at your idea. I hadn't thought about not putting the glass behind the speaker board. I have been using my Taito cab as a refference for ideas and they brought the glass up and behind the speaker board. You may have an easier time matching your edges. I already put in the order for 21 in high. Apparently you can not cut down tempered glass so i am kinda committed to my design.  :-\
