are mame roms and rain roms same?

i am checking into rain. just getting my feet wet.
i read rain roms are differant from mame's
but in my google search seems like this is bouncedaround as not true.

I have all the mame roms. so do I have all the rain roms also?

I would imagine that Raine roms are slightly different, but you could use a Rom manager to convert them.
As far as I know, ClrMame can create Raine dat files, so you could get it to try and rebuild roms from your Mame roms folder into working Raine roms.
