Monitor ID
« on: April 05, 2005, 10:21:52 pm »
I've got a newer chassis onhand, and can't seem to identify it.

Label on frame says "A.L.S. Marketing" "Model 1125".

Chassis only has this identification: 21029888A-01

The only "1125" mention that I found while searching was a Pentranic, but I don't have a chassis pic to compare to.

Any clues?

Revelant quote:

Heh, the suspense...

Ok, heres the rest of the story- Pentranic went tits-up last year and were bought by ALS. These guys are bypassing the aftermarket distrib and going straight to the buyers. These are the prices the distribs were buying at!

Ok, you say, so how good are they? Well, so far no problems here. I bought 4- 25" switchers, have one in operation now and two more by the weeks end. I was kinda holding out to see how the other two fire up before making this recommendation but... you asked...

The guy is super-friendly and they're at the stage in operations now that they are actively pursuing feedback for improvement. Which brings me to my one negative point- Those that have bought monitors before know that shipping anyway other than by truck can be a crap-shoot for getting it in one piece. The way they pack their monitors (at least mine- maybe its different if you WANT it shipped by UPS or Fed-ex) will DEFINITELY not survive UPS or FED-ex. They must remain in the "this side up" position at all times. Other than that- they shipped just fine.

Their number is: 800-735-0422.

Now the problems one of the guys here had with this guy.

So it's a Pentranic monitor.

I just hope it doesn't need warranty.

Ihave the pentranic 1425 myself--seems to be a pretty decent monitor (so far) ask me in a few weeks and months and we'll see if it stands the test of time...
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

A little clarification here:

The Pentranic USA office is what went "tits up" and got taken over by ALS Marketing. The Pentranic parent company then merged with Makvision monitors. The current Pentranic webpage is www.pentranic-displays.com

I've been in contact with "Harry" from Pentranics in the UK.  He's sent over a total of 3 schematics so far, including one for the 11xx series.  The problem is that the schematic doesn't match the board!

(For instance, B+ on the board goes to pin 8 of the FBT, but on the schem, pin 8 is ground).

Anyone know if "ALS Marketing" is keeping the same model numbering as the old Pentranics?

Follow-up: I read the other thread linked above, and found the ALS website, where the schematics were.  And after rechecking the chassis that I have, I see that B+ does indeed go to pin 10, so it looks like I've got the right schematic after all!
