skip_startup_frames - How to

I have compiled mame to include skip_startup_frames and looked in the forum but had a question and that is how do you use skip_startup_frames for galaga for example.

not used this for a while, but I seem to recall:

mame -ssf 250 galaga

was the format (where 250 is number of frames to skip).

or try mame -cc

and check the mame.ini file for the exact command (ssf should be listed I think)

I didn't think regular MAME could do that?  I know AdvanceMAME can (and does so automatically for most games).

It can't - its a custom patch someone made (check monitor/video forums for recent post on tweaked mame - the guy made a pile of patches for mame).

The original poster stated they compiled there own, presumably with the skip_startup_frames patch....
