I must apologise if this question has been asked, but I've scanned through the last few pages and haven't found any questions of the sort.

I've only found out about Maming an arcade box only recently, but I've known mame has been around for years and have only recently gotten back into it.

I always see documents relating to hacking a VGA cable and attaching it to a 15khz monitor which the arcade machines use.

Wouldn't it be easier to try and convert the monitor input to S-video? Since most recent video cards support TV-out (which is 15khz i believe), then there is no worry with running the monitor at 31khz and maybe destroying it.

Somebody must have thought of this before, I'm just asking, why can't it be done?
