Or you could just buy a DS which is pretty much the same thing only smaller. ;) ;)

You don't learn anything buy just buying a DS.  If you build a portable N64, you have something unique and learn a lot in the process.  If you just buy a DS you're no different than a million other people who had $150.

Yeah, but the DS is a much handier device to have in a dark cave:

Well don't get me wrong Chad, as are pretty much everyone else on this board, I'm a big fan of building it yourself. I was half joking hence the two little winky guys. ;) ;)

When you get two winky guys, it is assumed that they are winking at each other.  Men winking at each other is homosexual.

I chose to ignore the homosexual content of your post, thus didn't notice that you were joking.

Has anyone heard about this:

"The Nintendo DS (the next generation GameBoy) could go Palm OS. Nintendo has licensed the Palm OS from PalmSource for the Nintendo V-Pocket suite. The suite is personal organizer tools for the DS to make it a PDA as well as a gaming system. The touch screen will allow for the input needed while still having another screen to display output."

Supposedly, they are releasing a Plam-based OS for the DS in a DS cart (with internet, instant messenging, productivity apps, etc.), and there will also be a Compact-Flash adapter that fits into the GBA cart slot for music, video, etc.

...Very cool!

Tis true. They have a license with PalmOS. Though information beyond that are assumptions.

I really hope he one day starts selling the shells and then premade cables..

So you can hack your own without the problems.

I love the portable playstation.  But the portable n64 would be GREAT!

But if he had a protable DREAMCAST!  I would be in portable heaven.

Optical media based portables are a bad idea.  They just won't take much of a beating.

yea at work we had a lot of psp's returned and angry people, i don't like the wide screen and no screen cover either... DS is much more superior in terms of design, there's also 125 (more if you count unconfirmed dates yet) that are comming for the DS this year alone... it's going to be very good, but like all nintendo launches...slow start with little selection...ds is also more than a portable 64... later this year if you have a wireless router or wifi you can connect free to gamespot to play ds games online... CONFIRMED. ;D
