I'm running a P4 1.5GHz w 512 Ram. I runs MAME32 great with it's
regular video card (AGP ASUS V7100 Magic/32M) in Windows XP SP2.
I know I have Direct X 9.x because MAME32 won't run without it.
I'm converting an old Konami "Run & Gun" Jamma cab, with a 25" arcade
monitor. Not sure on the manufacturer, but the Tube is RCA. If I
need to I can send you pics or try to look it up on the net.
I've tried to install the Arcade VGA drivers without the card
installed. Goes to install screen then back to the desktop.
OK--doesn't see hardware, won't install driver. I get that.
When I install the Arcade VGA card (the newest model, I believe--1
VGA, 1 RCA), I get all the way to the Desktop with out a dual image
(split screen that I've read about) and the picture looks decent.
But, then the computer finds the new hardware and after about 5
seconds, the Arcade Monitor goes blank. The J-Pac inside the cab is
still showing both lights solid.
I restart the computer in Safe Mode, to try to install the drivers
manually (not enough time to try that before the monitor goes blank
with a regular boot). I go to the Ultimarc CD and click the install
for the Drivers and it tells me that I need Direct X 8.x for install,
and then flashes a box that says drivers can't be installed and to try
a standard VGA driver.
I can install the ATI control panel in Safe mode. It just won't see
Direct X. MAME32 also doesn't see Direct X.
Do I try the generic VGA drivers? Where do I go to find them? Then what? Also, can I erase the built in XP drivers so maybe I can try an install w/ a regular boot? Tried the ATI Cataylst Uninstall...still not wanting to respond.
Any Ideas, Anyone?
Or should I just Scrap this all and drop some $ for a Wells Gardner? How much are they?
Thanks for any help...I'm also emailing Andy at Ultimarc and will let you know what develops.
