Anyone here setup Daphne?
« on: March 31, 2005, 03:56:34 pm »
I am having a heck of a time setting this up on XP.  Can anyone help?

Here is the issue I currently have as
posted on the Daphne forums (no reply yet) at:
https://www.daphne-emu.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1693;

Running Daphne for the first time. Followed the instructions and read the
faq. Running DL or CC from the loader, a dos type window opens for a sec,
then closes without running the game. I am using XP.

I copied the command line it is using and tried running it from cmd window.
I get multiple errors stating that it cannot locate the led bitmaps in
\pics\ledx.bmp

The path to these bmps is c:\daphne\pics\ledx.bmp and they are there.

I also downloaded the most recent version and am using that.

Here is the logfile contents. Thanks in advance for any assistance;

--DAPHNE version 0.99.6
--Command line is: C:\Daphne\daphne.exe cobraab vldp -framefile
C:\Daphne\framefile.txt
--CPU : GenuineIntel 600 MHz || Mem : 256 megs
--OS : Windows XP/.NET || Video : MOBILITY RADEON 9000
Set 640x480 at 32 bpp with flags: 0
Initializing sound system ...
Joystick #0 was successfully opened
Reading key remapping file ... (if the file is corrupt, daphne will crash,
just so you know hehe)

I've sucessfully setup DL and CC on my XP SP2 machine (can I use anymore acronyms?).

One thing that helped me troubleshoot was to run it in a windowed mode instead of full-screen. Everytime I tried full-screen it bombed on me. I haven't gone back yet to see what the problem is.

Do you have any custom key maps? It seems to say your keymap file is corrupted.

You might try and reinstall Daphne and see if that doesn't fix it.

I tried in windowed mode, and no custom key maps.

I was only able to see the "cant load ledx.bmp..." errors when I ran it from the cmd line.

Using the loader, it just pops up a dos type window for a sec then bombs

:(

only problem i had with daphne was when teh mpegs were on a different hard drive than teh executables, that really screwed up daphne.

Perhaps something to do with capitals?  C:\Daphne compared to c:\daphne?  Give it a go, its worth a shot.

Do you have the ROM?  I don't have those games, but here's the first part of my last log:

Is DaphneLoaderInfo.ini (or anything else) readonly?  That often happens when copying files off CDs.
