Dragon's Lair DVD-ROM and WinXP SP2
« on: March 31, 2005, 11:42:19 am »
Hi All,

I just received my DL , DL2 and Space Ace DVD-ROMs from Digital Leisure yesterday . First thing I did was to stick DL in my DVD drive and bingo , error message number 1 "Unable to open key , RegOpenKey=2,Line=579" .

OK , so I went to their website , read up on the compatibility issues with XP and downloaded a few things . I'm now running their "Dragon's Lair DVD" program V1.10 with "DirectShow" . The program starts OK and usually runs about 5 or 6 scenes before crashing with a Windows "DLDVD MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close......" . I'm running the program in Win95 compatibility mode as specified in their website but I'm still having problems .

I was just wondering if anyone has it working 100% ?

Thanks

Sammy

I had similar problems, but never bothered to work through them.  Read up on the Daphne emulator and run it all from your PC.  Works great!

One more note..  This only applies to SA and DL  :(  Not DL2..  I haven't gotten DL2 to play, yet, as I've only got XP sp2 machines availalable..  DL2 supposedly works in Daphne if you compile the latest CVS version yourself, but I haven't bothered, yet  :(

Thanx.

Thanks for that jfunk . Actually DL2 (DVD-ROM) is the only one that hasn't crashed yet in XPSP2 using the digital leisure loader (Win95 compatibility) . My version of XPSP2 definitely doesn't like DL . I've just finished configuring daphne and it worls a treat with DL and SA .
