newbie question
« on: March 28, 2005, 11:10:52 am »
I'm planning on building an advancemame cab under glaunch both dos. But I'm really a total newb when it comes to monitors because this will be the first time I'd be taking myself out of my comfort zone and trying the features of advmame.  I have a set of questions:

-I have access to only ntsc tvs here, what is rgb tv?
-Is advancemame and advcfg, advv enough to setup my cab?
-Is there a way to just use onboard vga to hook up to ntsc or rgb tvs?
-schematics and/or diagram and pinouts would help me out a lot.
-would it help to use a vga card with tv out on a ntsc tv rather than the built in ones?
-thanks

The FAQ should answer your questions.

Are you using an arcade monitor or a TV?

Thanks. That is my problem.  I think I will try to do ntsc tv first then because it's cheaper.  What would you recommend and what would work? And a link to a  howto if possible.

note: I do have an understanding of advmame but this is the first time I'll venture into the unknown.eeek!

Try to get one with at least S-Video.  Component Video will be even better, if you get a video card that supports it.  Using Composite video or RF will result in very low video quality.
