BUCKETHEAD:
Okay here's what happened with your Monitor trick.

First i borrowed a tester from work and checked to see if there was

any power coming out of the lamp cord to the Monitor. And there was.

So next i used your trick. The Comabtribe had 5 wires going to the monitor.

And the Hogans Alley had 6 wires going to the monitor.

So i used your method and BAM! It worked.

Hogans alley showed up on the Combatribe Monitor.

I even dragged the gun over to it. And it fired and worked fine!

So i guess this tells me the HOGANS ALLEY monitor is shot?

Am i correct???

Thanks!

RayB:
"Shot" might be overstating the problem. Could be as simple as a blown fuse, or the monitor is not being powered due to other reasons.

You might want to start a discussion in the Monitor forum, or ask Ken Layton to come check out this thread (you'll have to give him alot more details of what you see relating to the monitor).

BUCKETHEAD:
What i meant by saying SHOT.

Is that it is beyond my capability of fixing it.

I am new to all this.  And it would be easier for me to get a replacement monitor

than to fry myself.

I am sure it probably is a easy fix for a veteran/pro.

But i will take this to the monitor section.

To see what happens.

Thanks RayB .

BUCKETHEAD:
Ok here is another chapter in the ongoing GLAX/HOGANS ALLEY Cab situation.

Here's what i did yesterday.  I took Paige Oliver's advise and spliced the Hogan's

Alley into my Combatribe Cab's (working monitor) Wham! I add a instant picture of

Hogan's Alley playing in my Combatribe Cabinet.

So today i tried first using the power cord coming out of my Hogans' Alley Cabinet

to Power up the Combatribe (Working) Monitor.  Then i turned both Cabinets on.

And didn't get any picture on the Combatribe Monitor.

So i tested the HOGAN'S ALLEY Cord again for Voltage.

And sure enough there is Power coming out of it.

So then i plugged the Combatribe's Power cord into the Hogan's Alley

(BAD/DEAD ?)  Monitor.  Nothing there either?

So now im at a BRICK WALL.  I don't know if i have a (BAD/DEAD?) Monitor

in the Hogan's Alley cab or not?

I thought i did until i tried using it's power cord,  To power up the Combatribe

Monitor. If their was power coming out of that cord. Then why would it not

power up the Combatribe Monitor?

Very Frustrating!  >:(

Ken Layton:
Your Combatribe is in a Dynamo brand conversion kit cabinet.

The Hogan's Alley game is housed in a Galaxian cabinet and a game operator bought one of the Nintendo VS Unisystem conversion kits to fit Midway Pacman style cabinets. The kits were made for Pacman's wiring harness and Galaxian was slightly different so whoever did the conversion did what they could to get it working. Granted it looks like they could have (or more like should have) spent more time on making it more neater & professional what with all the electrical tape you say is in there. I did one of these in a Pacman we had about 15 years ago and it sure does come with a cardboard drilling template to relocate the monitor mounting barckets. If I remember correctly this kit also came with a genuine Nintendo "Popeye" style power supply and it had a seperate On-Off power switch that only affected the monitor!
