I have had my mame machine built for a couple years now, but I decided to give it a makeover.

Zinc is really cool!  ESPECIALLY since my machine wont run those games in mame.  For Zinc alone I had to do a ton of changes in my frontend so that I could have my favorite clone use another emulator then the parent.  This wasn't a big deal until they where emulated in mame also.

Yeah, I have plenty of hard drive space so I copied the rom images to a separate Zinc folder

Hazaa for ZiNC!  Although the super weird command line interface confounds me - no error messages most of the time and all those --dashes-???  :-\

Once you've got it running in a FE it's great though.  I got sucked into playing some weird Japanese business suite guy game the other night.  No idea what it's called at the moment.  Was great till the Sub-Way stage where you have to recognize Kanji letters...

All those 3D fighters now playable with respectable frame rates...ohhh yeah!

So I'm new to Zinc. From what I read it let's you play some MAME roms faster then using them with MAME correct?

So if I have the newest set of MAME roms, then I should have all the games that Zinc supports right?

If that all is correct, then how to do handle it's installation. Do you remove the roms from the mame rom directory and build a new one just for zinc? Or do you just point zinc to the mame/rom directory and it automatically knows which roms it supports?

Thanks for your help!

That is correct.
