Been building this cab for 4 months. Tonight finally got the guts in and played for a couple hours. Suddenly noticed color distortion in top-right corner of screen. I'm assuming the speaker is too close because I've been using the monitor (sitting on a desk) for about a month with no problems. It's a WG-D9200.
The color distortion appears worst against red and green. Doesn't show up much in blue, and not at all in white.
When I degauss, it seems to get a little better.
Questions:
1. If I KEEP degaussing, will the color distortion go away? Is degaussing bad for the screen?
2. Should I hold down the degauss key for a long time or just pop it quick?
3. Is my monitor shot? Anything I can do?
4. When it comes to the rebuild, how far away SHOULD the speakers be? (Klipsch promedia 2.1 or whatever was in the Project Arcade book)
Damnit, now I have to either totally rip out the speaker shelf and possibly replace the monitor. I'm pretty bummed. Here's a pic. Any advice much appreciated.
