Old People sized fonts on my S-Video connection
« on: March 20, 2005, 11:48:56 pm »
I finally took my PC and hooked it up to the 32" TV I'm going
to be using w/S-Video in my cab....

When using some of the pre-created skins for Mamewah,
I'm noticing even though I'm using a 640x480 designed skin,
the font is still kinda hard to read.

I took the skins into the editor and increased the font to 14
and Its a little nicer on the eyes....

anyone else using 'old people' fonts?
...so I will ask you... "Deal, or No Deal?"

Yes.  I think I have mine set to 28 or higher.  I am using a 27" TV w/ Svideo.

I use 22 point fonts at 800x600.  Even though I'm using a VGA monitor, I think the larger (and thus smoother) fonts make it look less like it's running on a computer.

I wish MAMEWah had an option to drop the (Set 1) or (Version 1.2) from the names...

I thought that's what the display_clone_info setting was for...

I use 12 point fonts on my 800x600 display with TV output and they look fine to me *shrug* I also have my Windows display set to use large fonts (in Windows Control Panel, Display Settings -> Settings -> Advanced) but I don't know if MAMEWAH's affected by that or not..  It could make my 12 point fonts look a lot bigger than on someone else's TV that don't have Windows set to use large fonts.

sab
Did that just make any sense?

I tried it and regenerated my list, but it didn't seem to help... I'll probably have to resort to a names file.

Hmm.. I'll doublecheck when I get home tonight and if it doesn't work I'll add the option to MAMEWAH Config!
