Carnival-themed marquee art - Please critique
« on: March 20, 2005, 02:54:24 pm »
I was inspired by Lord Hiryu's art design to go for a retro / carnival look for my cab.  Lots of bright colors and nostalgia was my driving force for this one.  Please take a look and offer any tips you might have.  My photoshop experience is fairly limited so I'd appreciate any advice related to the design.

Looks good so far, but something's not right with the pink block behind the word ARCADE.

It conflicts too much with the red checkerboard and the red in the arcade text. Maybe remove it or use another color.

Looks good otherwise!

yes, I agree. Something isn't quite right with the Pink layer.  I might need to go back and fix the transparency so that it's more opaque, maybe add a black outline to the pink square also.  Thanks for your input.

I was actually looking at the marquee and the CPO.... the CPO has that red and white checkerboard scheme, probably meant to resemble a tablecloth.  But I think that arched look to the text in the marquee would work well on yours...

I'll post and updated pic after work today.  Can anybody else suggest ways to improve the marquee?  When you think about a carnival what kind of design elements come to mind?

thx,
