Hantarex MTC 9000 configuration

Hi there

I have recently bought an old jamma cabinet which was working and running streetfighter alpha when i got it.
Inside it has a Hantarex MTC 9000 monitor which i have connected to my PC using an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE via a fingerboard i bought and a cable i hacked off a dead monitor.
I have managed to power it up and get an image on the monitor but need some help as i cant get i to display correctly.
Below are some pictures of what i get, multiple, incorrectly sized, slanted images which will also sometimes roll down the screen.

I read that you should run the H + V sync through a xor gate but that twisting them together should work ok maybe its something to do with that?

I would really appreciate any comments or info that might help me to get this running correctly as i really dont want to use a pc monitor but am not sure where i am going wrong.....

Looks like the sync is not connected correctly. Hantarex is real finnicky about how the sync is hooked up. Try connecting your horiz sync only. Some of the MTC 9000 had a single video input/sync connector with a selector switch to select either positive or negative sync polarity. Most computer boards (and computer monitors) use positive sync polarity. Most Jamma gameboards use negative sync polarity. The other version of the MTC 9000 has two input connectors: one is a six pin connector for the video color signals/positive sync while the other connector is a 3 pin for negative sync/ground. This version does not have a sync polarity switch. In this case you choose which connector to plug into for the sync polarity your equipment uses.

I tried what you suggested but unfortunately it just made it worse, so i decided to reconnect both wires as they were before. This worked as now the picture no longer rolls and is also not skewed now. I guess there was a dry connection there before.
Now I have another slight but annoying problem.
The screen shows 2 identical screens side by side which are smaller than they should be.
I have a feeling its down to the screen resolution i have it set at but unsure if this is so and what to do if it is the problem.
Currently its at 320 x 200 which is the lowest mode i can seem to run at right now, maybe this is the problem?
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're using a JPAC, that's what's causing the 2 images.

You're driving it with a sync signal that's out of range and the JPAC has kicked in to protect it from damaging the monitor.

I have an MTC 9000 and it does not need the sync to be connected via a xor gate, I just twisted them together.

Hi and thanks for your reply,
I am a little confused, both you and meance in my other post have said i am using a J-Pac but in actual fact i am not.
I have wired my monitor cable directly to the fingerboard which plugs straight into the jamma harness, but it has no componants on the board to boost any signal or to protect it from anything.
This being the case leads me to 2 questions.....

1 Is my monitor going to be safe still?
2 Is this why I cant get it to display correctly?

The screen is now no longer skewed or rolling as in my other post, but still split into 2 images.
What are you using to run your monitor correctly dave?
do you have any specialised hardware or software?
I am using mame32, 3.4ghz p4, 256mb fx5700le, 1gb ram.

Are you using powerstrip of any sort of program to get your video card to display the 15hz signal that the monitor requires?

Not using any other programs than windows xp and the standard nvidia drivers for my card.
i did try powerstrip but wasnt sure how to set it so uninstalled it again.
Is this the problem do you think that i am not using some software to alter the settings or maybe some other issue?

This is most certainly the problem.

You are driving the monitor with a sync signal that it does not support. Doing so can damage your monitor if you do not have any kind of protection circuitry, such as a JPAC.

You have 3 options;

1.) Get an ArcadeVGA (get a JPAC too while you're at it)
2.) Get some hacked WIndows drivers for your video card
3.) Use advmame (in DOS)
