My head so hurts from reading upside down
« on: March 18, 2005, 02:08:23 am »
See my earlier post plz.....to sum it up....I'm building a cocktail talbe and and everything is oriented the wrong way......when I have  player 1 playing it should be on the left side, player two on the right....i have a third panel also.....on occasion I need to use windows, am I able to have windows face forward to the third panel and the player one on the left side.  I have moved yoke wires and messed with X Y in mame.ini or do I set up individual ini's for each game...if someone has a similar setup.....what is the process ?

IF you have a nVidia or ATI video card, you can rotate windows 90/180/270 degrees with the windows driver.

All Mame software allows any image to be rotated or flipped.

Therefore the only case you need to physically modify the yoke is if you are running DOS/Linux and the front end program doesn't allow you to rotate.   All Mame builds and most all Windows video card drivers allow full rotation in software.  Your problem seems software solvable first.

Thanks for the link, that software came with my monitor.  From what other hear say, the ati drivers support rotation so I'm gonna check it out when I get home.  I'm running a avga w/ arcade monitor.

Thanks

Check out this software too, it is freeware from the makers of PowerStrip:

http://www.entechtaiwan.net/util/irotate.shtm

Here's a snip from the web-page:

" iRotate provides convenient access to the native rotation capabilities present in contemporary display drivers, via a popup menu accessible from the system tray and optional system-wide hotkeys. It's no longer necessary to resort to bloated Windows hacks, additional software layers or phantom drivers to achieve content rotation. In most instances, support is now available directly from the graphics chip manufacturers, who continuously improve and apply quality assurance to their drivers.

By leveraging the native rotation capabilities now provided by ATI, nVidia, Intel, S3, XGI and others, iRotate offers exceptional speed and efficiency, with minimal impact on scarce system resources - the entire iRotate package, including installation, documentation, and native language support in all the major European and Asian languages, weighs in at less than 100kb. And like all EnTech graphics utilities, iRotate supports multiple graphics cards from various vendors, simultaneously, under every multi-monitor enabled operating system from Windows 98 to XP. "

Hope this helps...
