advmame config help
« on: March 17, 2005, 09:14:46 am »
Help guys!   I've been trying to mame an EGA monitor cab for over 2 months now.  I've made substantial progress, but I seem to be stuck with what is probably just a rc setting.  The monitor is a WG 25KHz medium resoltion monitor.  I'm currently running WIN98 DOS with a ATI Rage II+ video card.  When I run advcfg I select EGA, put in following settings pclock 5-90, hclock 25.06, and vclock at 60 or 43-63).  The test pattern looks like I have two images stacked on each other...  The first is perfectly centered in the screen, and the second is divided in half with part on the top of the monitor and the other on the bottom.  I'm able to shrink and align the image horizontaly, but cannot yield one whole pattern vertically.  I've drivin the monitor both through my JPAC and directly which no improvement.  I've also tried a Trident BLADE 64 with no improvemnt (had to change 'auto' to 'vbeline vgaline').  I've purchased the original NFL Blitz boardset to verify the operation of the monitor --- worked fine.  I've also ran advmame to to create a default rc file, added the clock settings along with the following from www.tiptonware.com

device_video_modeline medium_512x384 16 512 528 592 640 384 386 391 416
256x480/display_mode medium_512x384
256x480/display_resizeeffect auto
256x480/display_rgbeffect none
256x480/display_resize mixed
256x480/display_magnify 1
256x480/display_scanlines no
256x480/display_vsync yes

With these options I can run certain games fine ex:  pacman and tekken.  But others like timepilot have the same double image problems as my test pattern.  I also have the double image problem when I run advv, but it seems worse that some of the characters seem to be overlaying one another.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...  I think the wife is going to through me and the cab out the door :>

Did you use advcfg (and its test screen) to set up the main settings?
