Hey, I just started yesterday learning Illustrator.

To start I picked up some Unvectorized marquee from the AAL and started vectorizing it.

Here's what I've got after a few hours.

What do you think?

Original Marquee

Did you shrink down the original marquee, or is that the size you're working from? Honestly, it doesn't look too good right now. Road Runner looks like... well, let's just say that Warner Bros. wouldn't approve that rendition of him  ;D

Anyone knows the two fonts used in the marquee?

The one that says "Beep! Beep!" and the other one "Road Runner"?

Thanks in advance.

How do I cut that part of the image?

Use the pathfinder.  (Window/pathfinder)  Make another shape that's going to be where the cut is, a marquee will do, and then select both shapes.  Play around with the different modes until you get what you're looking for.  The problem is, if you used a stroke around the original shape.  Once you make the cut the stroke will be across the top also.  So, before you use the pathfinder, turn the stroke into its own shape.  Object/path/outline stroke.  Hope that helps.
