NES/SNES Emulators, FrontEnds
« on: March 08, 2005, 10:07:14 am »
I picked up a couple of those retro madcatz controllers and got them working using PS2-USB adaptor.

I've gotten NESTICLE for NES and ZSNES for SNES downloaded and working.

1. Are these the recommended emulators for these platforms on PC?

2. Anyone have a frontend that "plays well" with these? Ideally, I'd like to setup something that includes screenshots and only requires joypad for navigation.

3. Is there a resource for screenshots? I've looked for some sort of screenshot archive but have not been successful.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/recommendations others that have been down this path before may be able to provide.

I look forward to any and all replies.

1.) Those work fine.  I prefer FCE Ultra for NES however

2.) Almost any frontend that can use multiple emulators will do this.  I use MameWah

3.)  A screen shot archive can be found at..... http://www.screenshotarchive.com   ;)  Download the frontend specific versions of emulators while you're there.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

Thank you very much.

That link is quite helpful to jumpstart me into getting console emu setup working with class....

This is probably staring me straight in the face and I cannot see including being different for each emu but.....

If using ZSNESw, for example, is there a way to adjust program exit which is normally ESC to joypad key combination?

joytokey, maybe?

I think I shall give mamewah another shot...maybe I'll be able to figure it out this time.

joytokey, hmmm, that might be the ticket. I've used that before for VPin.

I got mamewah working.....I had struggled with this before but I think my stumbling block at that time was not understanding the need to enter the mamewah config menu and generating a game list for each emu.

I still have some adjustments to make primarily with rom name to screenshot name for a number of snaps but all is loading/launching correctly.

I couldn't quite get it to work, myself. I've figured out another option, though. by hiding any non-needed icons, I can simply have a list of shortcuts. not quite as effective, but functional and easy.
